PS 272: Women and Politics Fall 2025

Overview

The goal of this course is to introduce students to the study of gender and U.S. politics. We will cover the main questions, concepts and debates in the field. To do this we will analyze the historic and current participation of women in American political life; study how women’s public roles have been impacted by feminism; examine women’s participation in electoral politics; analyze the influence and behavior of women as public officials; analyze the intersection of gender with other categories such as race/ethnicity and political party.
